1. 《Ten pieces of candy 》——十块糖

Mother asks her son, “Jim, if you have ten candies, and you eat four, then how many candies do you have?”

妈妈问儿子：“吉姆， 如果你有10块糖，吃了4块，那你还有几块糖？”

“Ten.” Jim says.

“10块。”吉姆说。

“Ten,” Mother asks.

“10块？”妈妈问。

“Yes, Mum. Four candles are in my stomach and six candies are out of my stomach. Four and six is ten, isn’t it right?”

“是的，妈妈。因为4块在我的肚子里面，6块在肚子外面，4加6等于10，不对吗？”

2. 《Two dogs》——两只狗

A man has two dogs: a hound and a housedog. He trains the hound to help him hurt and teaches the housedog to watch the house.

有一个人养了两条狗：一条是猎犬，一条是看家狗。他训练猎狗帮他打猎，教看家狗守家。

When he returns home after a day’s hunt,

当猎人打了一天猎回家后，

he always gives the housedog some meat.

总要分给看家狗一些肉，

The hound feels very angry.

猎狗对此很生气。

He says unhappily to the housedog, “I work very hard outside, but you do nothing and share my food.”

它不高兴地对看家狗说道：“我在外边追捕猎物十分辛苦，而你在家什么都不做，但你却分享我的食物。”

“Don’t blame me, my friend. You should blame the master. He doesn’t teach me to hurt, but to share other’s food,” the housedog answers.

Don’t blame children for the mistakes of their parents.

3. 《Make the finishing point》——画龙点睛

Mr. Li is a good painter.

李先生是位很好的画家。

One day he draws a beautiful dragon without eyes.

一天画了一条栩栩如生的龙，但是这只龙没有眼睛。

Mr. Zhou looks at the picture and says, “The dragon has no eyes. It isn’t a good picture.”

周先生见了说：“这条龙没有眼睛。这不算一张好画。”

But Mr. Li smiles and says, “If I add eyes to the dragon, it will fly away.”

可是李先生笑着说：“如果我给它加上眼睛，它就会飞走了。”

Mr. Zhou shakes head and says, “You are boasting. I don’t believe you.”

周先生摇头说：“你吹牛。我不相信。”

Mr. Li isn’t angry. He holds the paintbrush and adds eyes to the dragon. Woe! The dragon really flies.

李先生也不生气，只是拿起笔给龙点上眼睛。哇!龙真的飞走了。

4. 《I Don’t Want to Walk Home》——我不想走回家

Tom is a very old man.

汤姆是一位老人，

After dinner, he likes walking in the street.

他喜欢在晚饭后到大街上散步，

And he goes to bed at seven o’clock.

在7点回来睡觉。

But tonight, a car stopped at his house.

但是，今天晚上一辆小汽车停在他家门前，

A policeman helps him get out.

汤姆在一位警察的帮助下走下汽车。

He tells Tom’s wife,“The old man couldn’t find his way in the street. He asked me to take him in the car.”

警察告诉汤姆的妻子：“这位老人在街上迷路了，他让我用汽车送他回来。”

After the policeman leaves there, his wife asks, “Tom, you go to the street every night.But tonight you can’t find the way, what’s the matter?”

The old man smiles like a child and says, “I couldn’t find my way? I didn’t want to walk home.”
